Welcome back to the Autumn Term 2012

Governors Personal Statements

Opening Statement from Chairman

Ascot Heath C.E. Junior School has a lively and hardworking Governing body who give their time freely in order to support and sometimes challenge, all aspects of school life.  They have varied backgrounds and are able to bring expertise in their area of interest and experience, to enrich meetings and help in decision making.  They extend their knowledge of current educational practises through attending Local Authority courses both in School and at a variety of venues. They sit on sub-committees where relevant issues are discussed in more detail. There are several types of Governor – those appointed by the Local Authority, Community Governors, Parent and Staff Governors and, as we are a church school, Foundation Governors.  The numbers and types of these are set down in our constitution.  You will see many Governors around the school, supporting events, helping with reading or learning their way around the building.  The Governing body is very supportive of Miss Theaker the Headteacher, and of all the staff.  They are assisted in every way by their very able Clerk, Mrs Anne Kirkby.

Mrs Gillian Allen

I have lived in Ascot since 1996 and have been a Parent Governor since June 2011.  I have one child at Ascot Heath Junior School in Year 4 and two children who have moved on to Charters, one in Year 7 and Year 9.  I have a good knowledge of what Ascot Heath can offer their pupils, from the start of their education with them, right through to the process of preparing them for secondary school.  I am on the Schools Committee and the Sites and Buildings Committee.  I also have roles supporting literacy and the arts in the school.  In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and reading.

Mr Daniel Azzopardi

Having grown up in Malta , I came to live in the UK in 1992. I have a university degree in Electronic Engineering and a degree in Law and have 15 years of technical design and management work experience in the mobile telecommunications sector, currently employed as an Enterprise Architect at Vodafone. I have been living in North Ascot for the last 11 years.  I have a young family and we feel very settled in this part of the country.  I hope that I can use my experience to contribute usefully to the running of the School as a Governor. Outside of work, my interests are sailing and playing squash

Mrs Suzanne Bailey

I have been a Governor since 2003 and both of my children came to Ascot Heath CE Junior School.  In this time I have enjoyed contributing to and leading various projects that have had a direct and positive impact on school life.  I am Chair of the School Committee and have a particular interest in the Curriculum and Healthy Schools .  I work in marketing for the world’s largest IT company.  I am married, we live in Ascot and I enjoy family holidays, cooking, walking and pilates.

Mr Oliver Doisneau

I am a qualified chartered accountant, married with 2 children; my eldest daughter is currently at Ascot Heath Junior School . In my capacity as a working parent, I want to ensure the school serves and accommodates everyone in the community, i.e. both working and non-working parents. I will also try to ensure the School gives each and every child the opportunity to flourish.

Ms Karen Eastell

I am a Parent Governor and have been for 4 years. I have three children, my eldest son is currently in Year 10 at Charters and my daughter and youngest son are in Year 7 and 4 respectively. My children are always happy going to school and I feel this is a testament to the school as a whole. I am clerk on the Sites and Buildings Committ  I have worked at Heathrow Airport for 29 years, and my current rôle is in Customer Services, which is self motivational and for that reason very rewarding.  I have recently begun running, walking and light weights, with encouragement from my family.

Mr Len Graham

Teacher/Staff Governor

Mr Roger Green

I have lived in North Ascot for the last 28 years and have enjoyed a long asssociation with the school, both personally and professionally. Both my daughters enjoyed considerable success during their attendence at the school and, as a deputyheadteacher, and then headteacher of local schools, I often brought soccer and cricket teams to compete(usually unsuccessfully!) against Ascot Heath pupils. I currently serve as a community governor and also act as chairman of the finance committee. Recently retired I hope that background in primary education will contribute to maintaining the school's  well deserved reputation for excellence.

Revd Dr Darrell Hannah

Revd Dr Darrell Hannah, or Fr Darrell, is the Rector of All Saints' Church.  He is an American and married to Linda, who is from Sweden .  Their son, Michael, was born at the beginning of December 2009.  Fr Darrell is an Associate member of the Governing body and regularly leads collective worship in the school on Thursdays.

Mrs Elizabeth Jacques

I began my rôle as a Governor at the end of 2008.  I am on the School Committee and have a rôle in supporting Gifted and Talented education. I have three children, the eldest is now at Ranelagh, my other two arein the Juniors. so I will have a long association with the School.  Being a Foundation Governor, I am particularly interested in continuing the Christian ethos of our School.
